§ Lord WINTERBOTTOMIt is assumed that the noble Lord is referring to Exercise Inside Right, which took place between 6th and 26th October 1975. Specifically it was the aim of the exercise to test the plans and procedures for mobilising the Reserve Forces, reinforcing our NATO Allies on the Continent and deploying personnel within the United Kingdom for home defence tasks. Members of the Royal Marine and Commando forces took part along with other Regular and Reserve personnel from the three Services, but our amphibious capability was not exercised.
