§ Mr. Robin F. Cookasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether the agreements with the Government of the United States of America over the development of their base at Diego Garcia included a variation of the Polaris contracts.
§ Mr. William RodgersIn 1966 the United States Government agreed to contribute up to £5 million towards the cost of setting up the British Indian Ocean Territory, by waiving to that extent research and development surcharges for the United Kingdom purchase of the Polaris missile system. This did not involve any variation or change to the terms of the 1963 Polaris sales agreement.
