§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisCivil Service pay is not normally adjusted by reference to the cost of living but by comparison with outside pay rates for similar work. However, between April 1974 and April 1975 cost-of-living supplements were paid as provided for in the Counter-Inflation (Price and Pay Code) No. 2 Order 1973. These amounted to approximately £68 million.
