HC Deb 05 November 1975 vol 899 c195W
Mr. Tomlinson

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what further proposals she has for special references to the Price Commission.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

I am asking the Price Commission to examine and report on three topics:

  1. (a) Charges for the hiring of television sets, including relay television services, for domestic use.
  2. (b) The extent of and reasons for differences in the unit price of goods made up for retail sale in small packs as compared with large packs or quantities, with special reference to such differential pricing in relation to some typical manufactured goods, including food, sold for domestic consumption.
  3. (c) Prices of small electrical household appliances, with special reference to the effect on actual prices of the practice of recommending retail prices and to any other matter appearing to the Commission to be relevant.
