HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 c148W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much extra revenue has accrued to central Government following the implementation of 25 per cent. VAT on service charges on washing machines; and what is the expected revenue by the end of this financial year.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

I regret that this information is not available, but it is estimated that the extra revenue this financial year from raising to 25 per cent. the rate of VAT on repairs, servicing and spare parts for domestic electric appliances, radio and television sets etc.—Groups 1 and 2 of the Higher Rate Schedule—would be around £20 million.
