HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 c130W
Mr. Adam Butler

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of the risks to schoolchildren and the anxieties of parents, he will intervene in order to permit the establishment of the 30 miles per hour limit on the Ratby to Groby (Leicestershire) road or the introduction of other safety measures.

Mr. Carmichael

No. This road is the responsibility of the Leicestershire County Council whose attitude towards a speed limit apparently takes full account of the Departments' general advice on the application of speed limits. I understand that signs have been installed warning drivers that they are approaching a school.
