HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 cc105-6W
60. Mr. Whitlock

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the establishment of dental officers and dental auxiliaries for the School Dental Service in Nottinghamshire; what are the numbers in post; what is the school population-dentist ratio in the area; and how these figures compare with the national position in the School Dental Service.

Dr. Owen

As at 30th September 1974, the latest date for which national details are available, the establishment in Nottinghamshire Area Health Authority was 31 dental officers and 15 dental auxiliaries; the numbers of staff in post were 29 dental officers—whole-time equivalent 20.9—and nine dental auxiliaries—whole-time equivalent 8.4; the school population dentist ratio was 9,007; at the same date the national ratio was 5,684.

I understand that by 30th September 1975 the staff in Nottinghamshire had increased to 22.9—whole-time equivalent—dental officers and 8.1—whole-time equivalent—dental auxiliaries. The school population/dentist ratio was then 1:8,267.
