HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 cc101-2W
51. Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what study she has made of the Labour Party Annual Conference Resolution 38 calling for the reduction of the pensionable age of men to 60 years, a copy of which had been supplied to her; and if she will make a statement on her policy towards it.

Mr. O'Malley

My right hon. Friend noted this resolution, which was not accepted by the conference. My right hon. Friend sees no prospect of such a change at present because of the cost involved, which is estimated at an additional £1,560 million a year at the pension rates to be introduced later this month.
