22. Mr. Ridley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what percentage of the gross national product was taken by the National Health Service in its first full year of operation and in the latest year for which figures are available, respectively.

Mrs. Castle

The proportions were 3.6 per cent. in 1949–50 and 5.4 per cent. in 1974–75.

26. Mr. Newton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations she has received following her recent announcement on the reallocation of resources within the National Health Service; and if she will make a statement.
