HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 c96W
35. Mr. Fox

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether it is Government policy to abolish private medical insurance schemes.

Mrs. Castle

As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister told the House on 20th October—[Vol. 898, c. 35–45]—the Government are not seeking to abolish private medical practice but only to separate it from NHS hospitals. Those who wish to take out private medical insurance will be free to do so.
