HC Deb 04 November 1975 vol 899 c147W
Mr. Mikardo

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take action designed to offset possible losses of tax revenue resulting from the use of Jersey for the avoidance of United Kingdom tax liabilities.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

I am of course aware of the possible use of Jersey as a tax haven. The question of tax avoidance is continuously under review, and I will bring forward any necessary proposals at a suitable time. My hon. Friend will be aware of the provisions introduced in the Finance Act 1975 to counter avoidance of CTT by becoming domiciled in the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
