§ Mr. Roy JenkinsThe Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme provides that those who receive injuries directly attributable to a crime of violence, and the dependants of those who are killed, may apply for compensation to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. No distinction is made between the victims of terrorist actions and those of other violent crimes.
There are in general no arrangements for paying compensation from public funds for loss of property caused by terrorist acts in Great Britain. Owners of property are in general able to obtain insurance cover which includes compensation for such attacks at normal rates of premium.
