§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will issue a circular to all local authorities advising on the need to ensure that existing 683W and new light controlled pedestrian crossings are fitted with audible signals to assist the blind in locating them.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThe audible signal is a standard part of the equipment of Pelican crossings, but it is not fitted at sites where there is more than one crossing since this could confuse people relying on it. If my hon. Friend has a particular case in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.
