§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the gains to the National Insurance Fund if the ceiling on national insurance contributions were abolished.
§ Mr. O'MalleyIf there were no ceiling in respect of Class 1 and Class 4 contributions, the additional income including Treasury Supplement in 1975–76 would be about £800 million on the basis of a full year's receipts at the rates of contributions introduced on 7th April 1975.
