Mr. Charles Morrisonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he submitted his proposals on the capital transfer tax in relation to agricultural land, and the effects that tax will have on the structure of agricultural land in the United Kingdom, to the EEC Commission for an opinion on the effect of EEC directives 72/159, 72/161 and 72/160, and with what result; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. PeartI am not aware of any requirement to submit to the EEC Commission proposals for direct taxation, and I understand that my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer did not submit his proposals for the capital transfer tax.
