§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will introduce legislation to enable or to require courts to take into account the length of time spent on remand when imposing a custodial sentence.
§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonSection 67 of the Criminal Justice Act 1967 already provides for the length of a sentence of imprisonment to be treated as reduced by any period spent on remand in custody before sentence. My right hon. Friend is ready to consider whether similar provision would be appropriate in respect of other kinds of custodial sentence.
