§ Mr. Gwynfor Evansasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the current number of unemployed in each of the member States of the EEC.
§ Mr. EnnalsAccording to the latest available figures, the number of unemployed in each of the member States is:
Member State Month 1975 Belgium April 160,366 (6.2%) Denmark March 109,700 (12.2%) Germany April 1,087,078 (4.7%) France March 754,800 (4.5%) Ireland April 95,585 (8.5%) Italy February 1,100,200 (5.7%) Luxembourg March 134 Netherlands April 183,462 (4.8%) Great Britain and Northern Ireland April 939,867 (4.0%) These figures, which originate from EEC member Governments, reflect different national practices in measuring unemployment. They are collated for publication by the EEC Commission but are not strictly comparable as they are not produced on a uniform basis. In particular, the method of arriving at the Danish figure means that the percentage is seriously overstated.
