§ Mr. Denis HowellI am satisfied that on present knowledge the disposal standards set out in the Asbestosis Research Council's code of practice are adequate and are normally followed. Under the Deposit of Poisonous Waste Act 1972, local and water authorities must be notified of the disposal of asbestos waste and can take action if any environmental hazard results. The code of practice is a major factor in assessing the risk of an environmental hazard.
