§ Mr. Aitkenasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the number of people unemployed in the Thanet area at 30th April 1975; what percentage this is of the total work force; and what are the comparable figures for this period last year.
§ Mr. BoothAt 14th April, 2,342 people were unemployed in the area covered by the Margate, Ramsgate and Sandwich employment offices and the rate of unemployment was 5.2 per cent. The corresponding figures for 8th April 1974 were 1,823 and 4.1 per cent. respectively. Rates of unemployment are calculated by expressing the numbers unemployed as a 109W percentage of the estimated total number of employees, including the unemployed.
