§ The Attorney-GeneralNo. It is in the interest of the public and the legal profession that solicitors should have a clear duty adequately to supervise their staff. The requirement of adequate supervision has recently been strengthened by practice rules under the Solicitors Act 1974 which were made on 9th May by the Law Society with the approval of the Master of the Rolls. Breach of these rules will render the solicitor concerned liable to disciplinary proceedings.
