§ 34. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the fact that artificial lighting consumes a substantial amount of electrical energy in non-domestic buildings, he will consider taking steps to discourage the continuing construction of buildings which require permanent artificial lighting even in daytime.
§ Mr. KaufmanArtificial lighting is only one of the ways in which energy is consumed in non-domestic buildings. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 enables us to make building regulations to further the conservation of fuel and power and we are considering what measures would produce the greatest savings.
