§ Mr. Moateasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if the Government will make a further contribution to European Architectural Heritage Year by 452W instituting a full study into the effects on historic buildings of traffic vibration; what information is currently available to the Government on this matter; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CroslandA fair amount is know about the effects of vibration from traffic and other sources on buildings in general, but there have so far been virtually no studies concentrated upon historic buildings as such. My Department is, however, currently negotiating an extra-mural research contract on this latter topic.
