Mr. Alan WilliamsUnder the Home Safety Act 1961 the promotion of home safety is within the discretion of local authorities, which are not required to notify me of the setting up of home safety committees or of the number of staff employed in this field. However, my Department will shortly be arranging a meeting with local authority associations to discuss consumer and home safety matters generally with a view to establishing closer liaison.
