HC Deb 05 May 1975 vol 891 cc344-5W
Mr. Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the estimated value of the arms being supplied by Great Britain for the years 1974 and 1975 to Turkey, both direct and via NATO; and whether such arms could be used in Cyprus in the event of further hostilities.

Miss Joan Lestor

It has been the policy of successive Governments to regard as confidential the details of arms sales to foreign countries. As my right hon. Friend the Minister of State made clear in the House on 30th April, the situation in Cyprus is an important factor which we take into account when considering arms sales applications for Turkey.
