HC Deb 05 May 1975 vol 891 cc375-6W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what particular Government incentives have been made available to firms wishing to locate or expand industries in Morayshire and Nairnshire.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Firms in the manufacturing, mining or construction industries may qualify for assistance under Parts I and II of the Industry Act 1972 towards the cost of new or expanding projects in Morayshire and Nairnshire. In addition, firms in the service industries may qualify for selective financial assistance under Part II in respect of new projects or projects which transfer from outside the assisted areas, subject to certain conditions. My Department also provides factories for rent or sale, and there is a factory of 5,000 sq. ft. now available at Forres. Other incentives are the regional employment premium, loans on favourable terms from the European Investment Bank, and preference schemes for Government purchase contracts.
