HC Deb 05 May 1975 vol 891 c372W
Mrs. Winifred Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will publish a list showing the practical ways in which present industrial developments are given priority in areas of high unemployment.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

The full range of Government regional financial incentives, principally regional development grants, regional selective assistance, regional employment premium and the Government factory programme, is available to stimulate industrial development in the development and special development areas. My Department's booklet "Incentives for Industry in the Areas for Expansion" sets out the various forms of assistance in some detail. The industrial development certificate control is operated with the aim of steering as much new industrial investment as possible to the assisted areas. The Government's policy in the operation of the control is set out in "A Guide for Industry" published in "Trade and Industry" for 13th February 1975.
