§ Mr. Clinton DavisGlamorgan Airport can be considered for Government financial assistance under Section 12 of the Civil Aviation Act 1968. The longstanding criteria, which are strictly applied, include whether the aerodrome is one of the limited number indispensable to the national air transport system; and whether the cost of running it is greater than the local community can be reasonably expected to bear. My right hon. Friend, in consultation with the Secretary of State for Wales, is considering the case made by the Airport Joint Committee, to which the Wales TUC and the Welsh Office of the CBI have contributed. This has been supported by the Welsh Council, the Welsh Counties Committee and other Welsh interests. He will make a statement about it as soon as possible.
