§ 52. Mr. Marquandasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of evidence supplied to her by the hon. Member for Ashfield, she will bring in legislation to ensure that victims of industrial injury by process receive adquate compensation.
§ Mr. O'Malley:Benefits may be paid for injury caused by a process if it has been possible to prescribe the injury under the Industrial Injuries Act as one where a causal link between the occupation and the injury can be established with reasonable certainty both in general and in the particular case. Without such 83W a causal link there would be no justification for paying benefits which give Preferential treatment to the industrially disabled over those whose disablement arises from other causes.
