§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps have been taken by Her Majesty's Government to obtain the ratification of the United Nations Covenants on human rights.
§ Mr. Ennals:We are actively considering the question of ratification of the International Covenants on Human Rights. This involves a careful study of the law and practice of both the United Kingdom and the dependent territories. Our studies are going ahead with all possible speed but I cannot yet give a date by which ratification may be possible.
