HC Deb 24 March 1975 vol 889 c71W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of the objections to the Seeds (National Lists of Varieties) Regulations 1973 being made to him by gardeners and growers, if he will now take steps to amend the regulations.

Mr. Strang:

No. These regulations were agreed with the organisations representing those who breed, market and use seeds; and, as has repeatedly been explained in departmental publicity, there is no foundation for the kind of fears and objections that have been expressed. In particular I welcome this opportunity of yet again affirming that these regulations do not prevent gardeners and growers from continuing to use existing seed varieties of their choice.
