§ Mr. George Gardinerasked the Secretary of State for Energy what importance the Government now attach to the development of a common energy policy within the EEC.
§ Mr. John Smith:At their meeting on 9th-10th December 1974, Heads of EEC member States invited the Community institutions to work out and implement a common energy policy in the shortest possible time. The Government have been and will continue to pursue that aim. whilst ensuring that agreed policies are consistent with the aims of national policy.
