§ Dr. Hampsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the total cost to the Exchequer of relieving the performing arts, theatre and concert box offices, the acting profession, living writers, museum acquisitions, of VAT.
§ Dr. Gilbert:It is estimated that the cost of zero-rating the theatre and musical concerts for VAT would probably be of the order of £6 million a year. I regret that information on the other items mentioned is not available.
