§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he proposes to implement the recommendations of the Salmon Commission and the Salmon Committee on Tribunals of Inquiry for the protection of the reputations of innocent persons and the improvement of the position of witnesses at ad hoc tribunals set up under the Act of 1921.
§ Dr. SummerskillEssential safeguards of the kind recommended by the Salmon Commission to protect the reputation of innocent persons appearing before Tribunals of Inquiry, and the interests of witnesses, can be secured by administrative action; but we shall consider how far legislation is desirable either to supplement or to reinforce them.
