HC Deb 20 March 1975 vol 888 cc519-20W
Mr. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) whether he will make available to local authorities a grant to enable them to carry out the recommended treatment required to make wind and watertight Weir steel houses which have deteriorated;

(2) when he will be in a position to advise local authorities on the treatment required to make wind and watertight Weir steel houses which have deteriorated.

Mr. William Ross:

I hope within the next few months to advise local authorities on possible forms of treatment. The approved cost of major repairs can in appropriate cases be taken into account for housing expenditure subsidy, and I am prepared to consider applications on their merits.
