HC Deb 20 March 1975 vol 888 c485W
46. Mr. Jessel

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will estimate the approximate current annual degree of risk of a River Thames flood of such severity as to overflow into the London Underground, pending the completion of the Thames flood barrier, and taking into account the construction of river walls since Professor Bondi's report.

Mr. Strang:

The risk of the Thames reaching the level of the present defences is of the order of 60 to 1 against in any particular year. A small amount of overflow could probably be sustained without causing serious damage to the London Underground.
