HC Deb 20 March 1975 vol 888 c483W
23. Mr. Canavan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the likely effect of the latest capital transfer tax proposals on agriculture.

Mr. Peart:

This issue was fully discussed during the passage of the Finance Bill which has now been enacted.

29. Mr. David James

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will prepare a scheme to help tenant farmers whose landlords are forced to sell their farms owing to the incidence of capital transfer tax.

Mr. Strang:

As capital transfer tax is only just being introduced it is too early to assess the need for such a scheme.
