HC Deb 19 March 1975 vol 888 cc429-30W
Mr. Spriggs

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what would be the cost effect upon new dwellings if double glazing were fitted by the builder; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kaufman:

Costs vary according to house design, window size, type of double glazing and the number of houses in the contract. For a typical three- bedroom local authority house the provision of double glazing might add £90–£100 to the cost. The resultant savings in fuel costs are estimated at about £2.50 per annum.
