§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many persons reside in multi-storey flats in Glasgow; how many of these are elderly persons; and if he will pay an immediate visit to the city to investigate the hardship caused to these tenants as a result of the industrial action by local authority maintenance electricians who service the lifts of these multi-blocks.
§ Mr. William Ross:I understand that just under 30,000 households live in multi-storey blocks in Glasgow, but I have no information about how many of them are elderly people. I am often in Glasgow and am aware of the situation generally.
