HC Deb 18 March 1975 vol 888 cc404-5W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she will list the individual limits of expenditure powers obtained by her Department by means of legislation or affirmative order in the past 12 months.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The Prices Act 1974, which received Royal Assent on 9th July 1974, authorised the expenditure of up to £700 million on food subsidies. Under the Prices Bill now before Parliament this limit would be raised to £1,200 million, with provision for a further increase to £1,700 million after 31st March 1976, subject to affirmative resolution.
