Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will introduce regulations to enable the documentation of textile imports to take place at ports of entry.

Dr. Gilbert:

Customs documentation for imported goods normally takes place at the port of entry. However, if the importer wishes to have the goods removed for Customs clearance inland, the documents are presented at the appropriate Customs office, usually inland.
