§ Mr. Beithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has altered the basis on which applications for reduced rate television licences for sheltered old peoples' accommodation are considered; and whether there has been any recent change in the proportion of such applications which have been refused.
§ Mr. Alexander W. Lyon:The answer to the first part of the Question is "No". As to the second part, I regret that no figures are immediately available. Because of the centralisation of licence records some applications previously granted have been reassessed, but we have no reason to think that the proportion of refusals has changed significantly during the last 12 months.
