§ Mr. William Ross:I regret that these figures are not readily available. The following estimates have, however, been made of the proportions by weight of total Scottish landings in 1972.

§ Mr. Ennals:32. Allowances and certain other conditions at individual posts are reviewed at roughly three-yearly intervals during general inspections. Allowances are also revised as necessary in the light of rises in the local cost of living, variations in exchange rates and other changes in circumstances. Rates of pay and superannuation arrangements conform to those in the Home Civil Service which are determined centrally. Conditions of service of general application are kept under review and are changed as necessary in the light of changing circumstances.
The cost, on salaries and travel of the staff mentioned, is about £165,000 a year.
