HC Deb 17 March 1975 vol 888 cc336-7W
Mr. Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what negotiations have taken place with member countries of the EEC in relation to the common fisheries policies, particularly with regard to the proposed 200-mile fishing limit; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ennals:

We have made it clear to the other member States that if, following the Law of the Sea Conference, there is a general extension of fisheries limits to 200 miles, the common fisheries policy will certainly need to be modified considerably. The Commission has made proposals, and there have already been preliminary discussions about them.
