§ Mr. Steenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will issue a circular to local authorities advising them to prepare and distribute leaflets setting out what is necessary for proper care of household pets, at the time when licences for household pets are issued, having regard to the fact that 15,000 pets have to be destroyed each year in Liverpool, including 7,994 dogs, because pets were unwanted or neglected.
§ Dr. Summerskill:I am not persuaded that such measures, which amongst other considerations would be costly, would be justified by the results.
