§ Mr. Trotterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why the PAYE affairs of only 40 per cent. of the 277 tax districts in London and the South-East are dealt with in the provinces.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 10th March 1975 ; Vol. 888, c. 77], gave the following information
Because the staffing difficulties which have made it necessary to transfer work out of London and the surrounding area have not been experienced to the same degree in the rest of the South-East.
§ Mr. Trotterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many personnel are employed on the PAYE affairs of London and South-Eastern tax districts which have been transferred to the provinces in each of the provincial towns concerned.
