HC Deb 06 March 1975 vol 887 c502W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what is her estimate of the number of people in the United Kingdom whose walking is affected following a stroke;

(2) what is her estimate of the number of people in the United Kingdom who, owing to arthritis or other causes, have limited finger movement or control over their fingers;

(3) what is the estimate of the number of people in the United Kingdom who are unable to walk but who have a fair amount of upper body movement and control.

Mr. Alfred Morris

Although the report "Handicapped and Impaired in Great Britain" published by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys in 1971 contains much useful material, it does not provide information in the form requested by my hon. Friend. I regret that I am unable to formulate estimates on the basis of other information available to me.
