§ Dr. OwenI am aware that claims have been made that a gluten-free diet is an appropriate and effective treatment for the disease. There has been substantial research relevant to this claim, and this was reviewed at the international conference referred to in my reply to my hon. Friend on 28th November 1974.—[Vol. 882, c.219–21.] As I explained, it was unable to find scientific evidence to justify the claim or to suggest that further research on the point is justified.
