§ 43. Mr. John H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Energy what steps, in the interests of energy conservation, he is taking to utilise liquid petroleum gases; and what discussions he has had with the Energy Ministers of the EEC and the International Energy Agency to avoid wasting this valuable source of energy.
§ Mr. John SmithI do not expect that there will be any difficulty in finding markets for liquid petroleum gas from the North Sea. The need for international discussions does not, therefore, arise.
§ Mr. John H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Energy what estimate he has made of the tonnage of liquid petroleum gases in the world now being flared, and the likely tonnage in the North Sea in each of the next 10 years which will also be wasted, expressing this as a percentage of oil and natural gas extracted and used.
§ Mr. John SmithSince liquid petroleum gas is a valuable commercial product I am not aware of any deliberate wastage, nor am I aware of any intention to waste liquid petroleum gas derived from North Sea petroleum.
