HC Deb 30 June 1975 vol 894 cc308-9W
35. Mr. Delargy

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many men have been drowned while working on oil installations in the North Sea.

Mr. John Smith

Since 1965, 19 fatalities on, or within 500 metres of, installations in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea may be attributed to drowning. These figures include the loss in 1965 of 13 men from the "Sea Gem" and cases where no body was recovered.
