HC Deb 30 June 1975 vol 894 c330W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has made to deal with the shortage of fodder, in view of the potential difficulties for stock farmers during the coming autumn; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Strang

Most first cut hays and silages have now been carried. Quality is excellent but yields are light. It is too early to make a full assessment of the situation, but I shall be keeping it closely under review throughout the summer. I am satisfied that there are adequate supplies of cereals and proteins. The Agricultural Development and Advisory Service is continuing its advisory programme to promote improved forage conservation and grass utilisation.
